Salmonella Saint Paul str. SARA23
S. St. Paul is the 6th most common serovar infecting humans in the United States and has emerged in other countries such as Japan. Yet, there is little genetic data on this serovar, and none to explain its prevalence as a major cause of human illness. The selected strains are from separate lineages representing genovar groupings. Strain SARA23 falls within the main clade for the serovar, and strain SARA29 is an outlier.
